I have lived in the 757 for the last eight years and it’s the closest to home I have felt since leaving the UK just over fifteen years ago. Since my arrival here I have been juried into the Virginia Artists Exhibition and the annual small works exhibition hosted by The Charles H. Taylor Visual Arts Center. I have participated in Downing-Gross Cultural Arts Center open studio and exhibition, A Space of Our Own. I currently have work hanging in 1st Baptist Church somewhere on the Peninsula and took part in the Hampton Roads Wholesalers Halloween exhibition just for fun. Other artistic pursuits include being a docent for PFAC as well as teaching a children’s art class up until it closed due to the pandemic. I have won several awards and had my art published on packaging for Sketchbox, an art supplies subscription box. I co-founded the Newport News Urban Sketchers chapter with a couple of friends and organize monthly sketching events for anyone with an interest in meeting like-minded people to sketch our beautiful home here in the 757. I have also had the great pleasure of working on a couple of projects for The Mariners Museum. You can see some of my illustrated insects on the interactive educational board in the pollinators garden.
